There was a feathery, golden light in the room; a faint serenity that lounged on the pale wooden frame of the chair, in a solitary, composed state as an elderly lady with little distance to travel anymore might do. She spoke of nothing, only sat and indulged herself in the gentle peace of the spotless lake beyond the window. Finally, she was free –the air in the room was not bound to anything. It was such a freedom, an escape, within the room, that the staircase seemed to lead to another level of wholesome liberty, and the azure front door back to the lake. she's tired. worn. but she can't fall asleep anymore because she's scared of waking up. i think back to the nights when we pretended we could touch the stars and we lit up the sky with laughter. oh those long ago feelings. she's the type of girl who hides her pain because she doesn't want anyone else to be hurt. she wears too much make-up to cover up the tears in her eyes. she tries to smile and it just about breaks my heart. forever-girl, can i be your hero?
